About the Sport

Founded in 1976, wheelchair tennis is one of the fastest growing wheelchair sports throughout the world. Wheelchair tennis integrates very easily with the able-bodied game, with the only exception being that the wheelchair tennis player is allowed two bounces of the ball as opposed to one.

How to get involved - Training Information

Wheelchair Sports Victoria coordinates a weekly coaching program at Albert Park Reserve, which is attended by a number of players throughout metropolitan Melbourne. There are 44 two hour sessions held annually on Tuesday evenings between 7.00pm-9.00pm. 

All coaching sessions are coordinated by Australian Paralympic Coach, Mr Greg Crump and former Paralympian, Mr Anthony Bonaccurso.

Major Events

Wheelchair Sports Victoria currently hosts two wheelchair tennis events in conjunction with Tennis Victoria. Both of these events are part of the NEC International Tennis Federation Calendar and attract over 30 players throughout Australia and overseas.
