About the Sport

Founded in 1976, wheelchair tennis is one of the fastest growing wheelchair sports throughout the world. Wheelchair tennis integrates very easily with the able-bodied game, with the only exception being that the wheelchair tennis player is allowed two bounces of the ball as opposed to one.

How to get involved

Wheelchair Sports Victoria coordinates a weekly coaching program at Albert Park Reserve , which is attended by a number of players throughout metropolitan areas. There are 40 two hour sessions held each year on Tuesday night's between 7.30pm-9.30pm.

All coaching sessions are coordinated by Australian Paralympic Coach, Mr. Greg Crump as well as former Paralympian, Mr. Anthony Bonaccurso.

An annual Development Camp is also coordinated for all wheelchair tennis players over a weekend in Phillip Island, which is usually held in November. The aim of this program is to provide an intensive training session in preparation for the summer season.

Major Events
