Lawns Bowls is ranked the fifth most popular sport and physical activity in Australia. Lawn bowls is a great form of physical activity in addition to being a wonderful social activity for all ages and levels of ability. Lawns bowls develops skills and coordination, which not only improves fitness but assists in building confidence and self esteem.
Lawn Bowls appeals to many people with a physical disability because they are able to compete equally against able-bodied participants. Whilst it can be played on grass surfaces, it is mainly played on synthetic surfaces as this minimises damage to the green, thereby making it more accessible. Bowling arms and people to push the lawn bowler up and down the green are allowed to assist players to compete.
