Shooting is a test of accuracy and control, in which competitors use pistols or rifles to fire a series of shots at a staionary target. Shooting is predominantly undertaken by quadriplegics but is also open to people with various other physical disabilities. Shooting is divided into two categories, which include:
Wheelchair Sports Victoria coordinates a monthly coaching program at the Springvale Shooting Range on the first Tuesday and Thursday of each month between 5:30pm-8:30pm. This program is attended by a number of social and elite shooters throughout Victoria.
All coaching sessions are coordinated by Program Head Coach, Paul Corrie.
For those wishing to participate at a competitive level, individual and team competitions are available throughout Australia.
Wheelchair Sports Victoria is introducing a development camp in 2010 that targets anyone that is currently involved in shooting or wants to try the sport. The camp provides participants with the opportunity to access expert coaching, improve their shooting skills and social engagement with other shooting enthusiasts.
