Participation in Community Sport and Active Recreation (PICSAR)
Wheelchair Sports Victoria was successful in 2007 in receiving funding by VicHealth for the period between 2007-2011 to assist people with a physical disability in regional Victoria to become increasingly active in sport and recreation. The PICSAR program has been developed to improve greater opportunities for all Victorians to participate in sport and active recreation, thereby living a healthier lifestyle.
WSV's PICSAR program has been formulated to assist the following regions:
Gippsland
Greater Ballarat
Goulburn Valley
Greater Bendigo
Wimmera

The project's main objectives include:
Raise awareness and understanding of persons with a physical disability within the community through education and advocacy.
Foster inclusion of persons with a physical disability in social, sporting and recreational activities conducted by key community groups.
To provide a range of quality sport and recreational opportunities for persons with a physical disability, thereby increasing participation.
To source and retain key stakeholders by developing partnerships with Regional Sports Assemblies through the Access for All Abilities Program and State Sporting Associations linked directly to the Sports Connect initiatives.
