Luke Cain crowned Oceania Shooting Federation Continental Champion

Wheelchair Sports Victoria would like to congratulate member Luke Cain who shot his way to victory late last year at the 2009 Ocean Championships held in Sydney in early December.

Entering into the competition, Luke had set himself the goal to win his first international medal and he achieved just that, claiming the gold medal and in the process defeating former World Champion Viktoria Wedin from Sweden and the Australian Champion, Jason Maroney.

The Boneo 29-year-old produced a breathtaking performance in the 10m air rifle prone, shooting a high score of 597 out of 600 to claim the title after only three years of participating in the sport.

Now one of the best in Australia, Luke looks firmly on target to achieve his next goal of representing Australia at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London. In the meantime, he will take on the world in July when he competes in the World Championships in Croatia, after competing in Germany and France during May as lead up preparation.

Wheelchair Sports Victoria wishes Luke the very best of luck in his shooting endeavors in 2010 and beyond.
