The aim of the Junior Development Program is to provide various sporting and recreation opportunities for people with a physical disability for members between the ages of 5-18, some of which include:
The Junior Summer Camp is the most eagerly awaited activity on the junior development annual calendar. Whilst the Saturday night disco is a highlight, some of the other activities include: the giant swing, sailing, horse riding and various other sport and recreation activities. The camp includes all accessible transport, activities, accommodation, meals, qualified nurses and volunteers. The camp was held in Angelsea for 20 years before moving to Phillip Island in 2009 for a change in environment. The 2010 Junior Summer Camp will again be held in Phillip Island in November.
The Junior Winter Camp enables juniors the opportunity to snow board and snow ski. The camp includes all accessible transport, accommodation, meals, activities, qualified ski instructors, ski equipment, qualified nurses and volunteers. Due to the increasing popularity of the Junior Winter Camp in recent years, in 2010 there will be two camps held at Falls Creek to accomodate for all interested juniors. The first camp will be held from the 16th - 18th July, with the second camp running from the 13th - 15th August.
The Junior Development Camp provides participants with the opportunity to further develop their sport and recreation skills in a fun and engaging weekend held in Melbourne. The camp provides all coaching sessions, social activities, meals, accessible transport, qualified nurses and volunteers. The Junior Development Camp was successfully introduced in April, 2009 to align with the inaugural Paralympic Youth Games, with over 30 juniors attending. It is anticipated that the camp will run for a weekend in October in 2010, with details to be confirmed shortly.
